Harry Ray Leicht, Jr., 90, of Beaumont, died Friday, August 25, 2006.

Harry was a Beaumont native and great grandson of Joseph Martin Hebert, one of Texas' earliest pioneers and prominent cattleman. He was the oldest of six children of Harry R. Leicht, Sr. and Rosa Bonnemaison Leicht. In his young life as a Boy Scout he rose to the rank of Eagle Scout, and eventually became a Senior Scoutmaster. He was married for fifty-four years to Marie Spence Leicht, the love of his life, who predeceased him in death.

Harry was very active in the Catholic Churches throughout the communities of Beaumont and Crystal Beach, and served in the Knights of Columbus. After forty-five years of service with Gulf States Utilities as a lineman, foreman and supervisor, he retired to Crystal Beach where he became a City Councilman for three years. He was also instrumental in the founding of the Catholic Church at Crystal Beach. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time at the beach with family and friends. He is now joined with his wife Marie and happy on God's eternal heavenly beach.

Survivors include his daughters, Carol Leicht Erwin of Katy, Joan Dinkins of Willis, and Rebecca Scott of Beaumont; son, James Byron "Jim" Leicht of Crystal Beach; sister, Katherine Thompson of Beaumont; brothers, Robert R. Leicht, Sr. and his wife Faith of Dallas, and Thomas Leicht and his wife Barbara of Beaumont; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a loving a loving caregiver, Cristie Frazier of Orange; and brothers-in-law, John "Boo" Chadbourne of Dallas, and Robert Irving "Slug" Marshall of Austin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at St. Anne Catholic Church with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2006 in the Mortuary.
